What supplements can I take to boost my immunity?
This is a question that we get often. Safe bets include the following proven stalwarts. Goto the NIH LINK for more info and recommended dosages:
- Zinc
- Vitamin D
- Vitamin C
- Vitamin A
How about Herbs?
Other herbal heavy hitters include the following. Here is a LINK for some more herbal information:
- Grapeseed Extract (Red Grape Juice works well too!)
- Astragalus
- Chaga (mushroom powder. Some folks may also need Calcium to avoid forming Kidney Stones)
- Licorice Root (Not for hypertensives since it can increase blood pressure)
Should I avoid any supplements?
Some immune-boosting substances can stimulate IL-6 (Interleukin-6) which can trigger the dreaded Cytokine Storm we’re starting to hear about with the Covid-19 virus. Some identified include:
- Bee Propolis
- Echinacea
- Elderberry
In addition, it has been suggested in some studies that Advil (Ibprofin) also stimulates this inflammatory process with Covid infection, whereas Tylenol (Acetaminophen) doesn’t.
