Beth Garner knows from personal experience that it is possible to forget how to relax. Fortunately, her first yoga class reminded her what it felt like and kindled an interest in its calming and healing aspects which she has pursued for nearly twenty years.
A graduate of the Yoga Room’s Advanced Studies Program, she also was certified as a Relax and Renew® trainer by restorative yoga authority Judith Hanson Lasater, Ph.D., P.T. Beth’s goal is to create a setting for her students to let physical and mental tension go, using gentle stretching, breath awareness and propped restorative poses which allow the mind to be calm and the body to relax and mend itself. The Berkeley native also assists and teaches in classes for people with chronic health concerns and delights in guiding those unaccustomed to doing yoga into the basic poses.

Flora McMartin is a 2018 graduate of the Advanced Studies Program at the Yoga Room in Berkeley, CA. She has been practicing yoga for 15 years, and she continues to study with Debbie Gilman and Scotty McCaully. This work, and her experience as a yoga student, directly informs Flora’s philosophy of teaching: to make yoga available and accessible to everyone. If you are curious about yoga, unsure if it’s the thing for you, or want to pick it up again, Flora will join you in discovering a yoga practice that meets your needs.

Srinika Narayan has been a licensed acupuncturist and practitioner of Integrative Chinese Medicine for over 13 years. She’s also co-founder of the health center, Prana Urban Healing Lounge based in San Francisco, California. She is now practicing Nutrition at Innate Chiropractic Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Srinika uses a specific nutritional analysis technique called Nutrition Response Testing (NRT), a non-invasive method of assessing the body’s condition. NRT uses muscle testing to pinpoint, with laser-like accuracy, the underlying cause of a health issue, and how to aid the body to overcome these conditions – conditions that, in the western medical model, are thought of as chronic, auto-immune, degenerative, or without hope of recovery.
Nutrition Response Testing has two parts:
1. The analysis (the assessment of your body’s current health status)
The NRT approach uses the body’s own neurological reflexes on acupuncture points. Each reflex represents a specific organ. The practitioner touches a certain reflex point while testing the muscles of your arm. When a reflex is “active” the nervous system will respond by contracting one arm. Srinika uses that contraction to determine both the main organs that are imbalanced in the body, as well as the underlying stressor in the organ that is impacting your health.
2. The personalized health improvement program
Srinika develops a customized program with you to correct the cause of the problem through nutritional means, so the body can heal itself. This program will focus on avoiding or removing certain toxins currently in your organs or in your environment to avoid future health risks.
This overall risk reduction and healing is achieved through dietary changes and/or whole food/herbal supplements that are designed to match the specific needs of the body.
Some of the conditions that can be successfully handled using NRT include:
Allergies, Ulcerative Colitis, Chronic Pain, Asthma, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Lou Gehrig’s disease, Chronic Migraines, Fibroids, Infertility, Cysts, Heart Disease, GERD, Eczema, Acne, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, Lyme Disease, Chronic Pain, Chemical Sensitivities, Autism, ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Allergies, Asthma, Frequent Colds and Ear Infections, and much more.
