Beth Garner knows from personal experience that it is possible to forget how to relax. Fortunately, her first yoga class reminded her what it felt like and kindled an interest in its calming and healing aspects which she has pursued for nearly twenty years.
A graduate of the Yoga Room’s Advanced Studies Program, she also was certified as a Relax and Renew® trainer by restorative yoga authority Judith Hanson Lasater, Ph.D., P.T. Beth’s goal is to create a setting for her students to let physical and mental tension go, using gentle stretching, breath awareness and propped restorative poses which allow the mind to be calm and the body to relax and mend itself. The Berkeley native also assists and teaches in classes for people with chronic health concerns and delights in guiding those unaccustomed to doing yoga into the basic poses.

Join us for a series of four-week workshops this spring that focus on back and hip health, mobility, and strength-building. Our backs and hips carry so many burdens – out of sight, out of mind – until the accident, the fall – until, life happens. This restorative and preventative series will begin with poses suitable for all ages, levels of fitness, and body types and progress to more challenging poses. At the end of the series, you will be equipped to maintain a healthy core yoga practice and to take the next steps on your yoga path.
Workshops are designed for the beginner and students with some experience who want to get back to a more regular practice. Sessions can be adapted to meet students’ needs and abilities. Workshops are “stand alone” – participate in one or more at your convenience – or take the entire series.
- Series 1: Flexibility and Mobility – January 28 – February 18: Gentle stretching and yoga poses that promote flexibility.
- Series 2: Healthy Hips – February 25 – March 18: Opening up the hips after sitting all winter!
- Series 3: Healthy Back – April 1 – 22: Focus on poses for back health.
- Series 4: Strength Building – April 29 – May 20: A capstone for students who attended the entire series. These sessions are also appropriate for more advanced students.
All class sessions are held at Innate Chiropractic, 916 San Pablo Avenue, Albany, CA. Classes are 75 minutes and begin promptly at 9:00 am o n Sundays.
